ELLSWORTH, ME - Russ White, a veteran with over 25 years of distinguished service in the U.S. Air Force, has declared his candidacy for the Maine House District 13 seat. Leveraging a rich background in leadership honed through his extensive military career, White aims to introduce a fresh perspective and a wealth of experience to community representation.
A true son of Ellsworth, Russ was raised by his parents, Tug and Anne White, who instilled in him a profound sense of community. A proud graduate of Ellsworth High School’s class of 1983, White was a three sport athlete. He was a member of the 1981 Cross Country State Championship Team. White was the pitcher on the 1983 Ellsworth High School State Championship team.
His journey continued beyond high school as he sought higher education before committing to serve his country by enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1985.
White's military service is marked by assignments that spanned the globe, from Cannon AFB in New Mexico to international bases in Germany and the United Kingdom. He notably volunteered for the Commando Look program, serving as a member of the Air Force Special Operations Command as an Aerial Gunner on MH53M Pave Low and MH60G Pave Hawk helicopters. His deployments took him to strategic locations around the world, including Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Bosnia-Kosovo, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Africa.
Retiring in 2011 as a Master Sergeant, White transitioned his commitment to service to the civilian sector, making a mark as a nurse recruiter. His military and civilian careers alike have been guided by his steadfast dedication to leadership, integrity, and community service. White finds joy and relaxation on the golf course when not engaged in professional pursuits.
Announcing his candidacy, White shared, “I am proud to step forward as a candidate for Maine House District 13. My experiences in the military have deeply ingrained in me the importance of duty and service to others. I am eager to contribute my leadership skills and learnings to address the challenges our community encounters and to work collaboratively with others across House District 13 and the State of Maine. I ask that you vote for me in both the June primary and the November election."
With the support of his wife, Christena O’Dwyer-White, and their two children, Declan and Ryan (both of whom are Ellsworth High School alumni), White's campaign is a promise to ensure that the voices of District 13 are not only heard but effectively represented at the state level, marking a commitment to service, leadership, and community.
White will be running in the Republican Primary on June 11, 2024. Maine House District #13 consists of Ellsworth, Fletcher’s Landing, and Waltham.
